The Next Day

The Next Day

  • Continue media listening and act if required
  • Keep your lines of communication open including the next morning as new media may take up the story then.
  • Ensure your event officials/volunteers are fully briefed as these are your best spokespersons in the community afterwards
  • Remember the welfare of the volunteers involved
  • Carry out further research / investigation into the matter to prepare a detailed report
  • Take action as it may be required (ie insurance for the family of the injured competitor etc)

When the storm has stopped

  • Carry out a formal review of your crisis communications strategy post event and seek ways to improve ideally as part of the formal review of the incident
  • Adapt your crisis management plan based on the lessons learnt
  • Remember that the issue may become a story again eg Inquiry result , Anniversary etc
